VARIATIONS ON A THEME: THE TENNIS BALL

This set of three purses--a dominant, full-sized one with two satellites--was created for my first fine-art show, mounted in celebration of International Women's Month at Notices The Gallery at The Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore in the spring of 1999. This smaller piece, the one on the left in the "group shot," is a drawstring pouch made of all the same materials as the other two in the set. This one opens by pulling on the two beaded-fringe tassels at either side of the neck of the bag and closes by pulling up on the other ends of the loop. The double cord is longer and finer than the other two pieces, allowing it to hang over the shoulder and hit at hip level.
